JUST AN FYI [Oct. 8th, 2006|06:44 pm]

[mood |annoyedannoyed]

Wow so I'm walking down bank street last night and I noticed the new issue of Capital Xtra is out so I picked one up. I always love reading that paper! anyways so im flicking through the pages and I saw an article on ALGONQUIN GLBT written by a friend of mine so i was like yay im going to read this. So as im reading im like yep ppl are still fucking immature then i get to this one part, here let me site it ;

"Judging by those who turned up Sep 21, this year's club can boast a lot of passionate members. Downer is optimistic that's sufficient for it to succeed where past clubs have failed.

"I want to see a lot of things, like I want to see us have an art exhibition and all these cool things, but it will depend on how much people want to put into it. I was a part of the club two years ago and the meetings were really unorganized and they didn't have a set schedule. I think that confused people. I'm going to try to keep it the same day of the week, bimonthly."

So lets set the record straight and a few things here and boy am I not in a good mood now.

We busted are ass' off to get that art show in place and we did! I think you guys had one full week of Campus Pride! Algonquin College was on that flyer for that week u had the drag show art exhibit the sex shop thingy u had lots to do that week!!!!!! LOTS!

Safe sex xmas kits, bake sale, movie nights, BOWLING, etc and to sit there and tell my friend that we were disorganized that takes a lot of balls!!!!!!!!!!! LITERALLY!

When it came down to getting a room we tried and guess what it just didnt go over. We worked with a lady who tried everything in her power to get us a room as well as holding meetings with ombudperson etc we had papers written to the school TEN YEARS ago to get a room! Its not going to happen over night and ppl cant seem to get it!

And another thing that pissed me off more then anything and SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN SAID was ""I think there has been some discrimination. What possessed them to give the Aboriginal group a permanent space, which is great, and I fully support that group, but you would think there are more GLBT students than Aboriginal students at Algonquin," Downer says.

TOTALLY IGNORANT!!!! To even say that or to think that wow totally gutsy!

And my final statement on this issue which was uncalled for is how could u sit there and say; "has anyone ever been to edge......well i hate that bar and do u no Christine? Well we used to be friends and shes just a HUGE BITCH!"

I think that if u had real balls u would tell me to my face instead of bad mouthing but thats okay i'll be taking this to the SA on Tuesday morning with a formal complaint in regards to this. YOu are supposed to be creating a safe space for students to go to but what you are doing is discriminating against an individual!

Algonquin GLBT [May. 29th, 2006|05:50 pm]

Hey. I'm Nick. I'm gunna be attending Algonquin in Sept for Recreation and Leisure Studies. When I was there in 2004-2005 I was an active member of the GLBT group there. This year there was no group. Anyways, I am starting a group back up in the fall, but in order to do that I need to fill out the form thing and have ten members. I already have a couple but I am looking for people who are going to be full time students at Algonquin in Sept and would like to be involved in the group. A little bit about myself is that I am a 20 year old lesbian living in the area and am active in the GLBT community.  If you are interested, or want more information or anything, please leave me a message on here, or you can email me at escape-velocity6@hotmail.com. I'd really appreciate it as I really hope to be able to start the group up. :)

OT-Do yourself a favor avoid getting tattooed at Silverline [Oct. 20th, 2005|11:49 pm]

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

As a bulk, Silverline is total Shit, if you know anyone that works there direct them to me. I'll tell them to their faces.

WE alked in received a quote on a piece of work, one of the artists friends that attempted to sway us from shopping around for an ideal artist, by implying we were price shopping and linking it to price shopping for a surgeon.

Fact of the matter, is obviosuly as a client we want to get the best bang for our buck.
After looking around, and discovering that our regular artist (from a local parlor) was off today, we decide to give Silverline a shot.

We go in the lady holding the front desk is busy getting tattooed. Wow, how impressive She was a chinless butt ugly bitch, she tries to imply that I should get camel footprints tattooed on me b/c I'm from Egypt).
Anyways she quotes us a price. We fill in the forms. The artist leaves to apparently prep. We tell her we will pay via debit. Many of the reputable parlors now take credit and debit. She informs us that unfortunatly they do not accepted debit, that there is a nearby atm machine accross the street. She quotes us a price after tax.

When we return, she tells us she made a mistake and the price is actually an extra 25$, sure that seems small, but we are already going to pay 225$ for a tat smaller than the palm of my hand. So apparently eventhough the bitch misquoted us, the onus was on us. Not a very good business practices.

The artist is still apparently prepping out back. She attempts t take out money, we tell her we'd like to dscuss something with the artist first, as we may be changing sizes and and what not. (Shrinking the tat by a factor os 0.8) and reducing some of the more complex detail. She attempts to argue it and take our money again, we slowly start getting peeved as we are waiting for over 15 mins. She tells us the artist is actually out having a smoke. We wait longer, and then proceed to leave. Obviously if he was out having a smoke for like 20 mins our business was not important to him.

We later find out that the artist was infact out back getting high.

Now if we have to be clean erse(not under the influence of alcohol or drugs), can we not assume that the artist must also be drug free will tattoing us?

GLBT This Year [Sep. 15th, 2005|08:02 pm]

As some of you may or may not know, as far as I know we do not yet have co-ordinators for this year's GLBT. Christine, who was a co-ordinator last year, has to heavy a workload this year and I havent heard of anyone else (confirmed) who has decided to run it. Has anybody seen/heard things around the school? I'm just curious if anyone else knows anyone else who has decided to do it. If not, Kyle and I were planning to have a meeting for those of you on here, or anyone you know is interested, to get together and decide who would be willing/interested in being the "co-ordinator" in the SA's eyes. This does not by any means mean you are responsible for everything. It is the group's responsibility as a whole to see that things run smoothly. I would be willing to be a co-ordinator but it has to be a student and I am not going to be a student there this year..just a happy visitor. :) Anyways, let me know your thoughts/knowledge on this issue and hopefully we can get going on an exciting and successful year. :)

Roomates Wanted [Aug. 25th, 2005|01:37 pm]

[mood |curiouscurious]

There is this house in my area, the same ones I currently live in, and it's a 3 bedroom house, 1.5 baths, 4 appliances, parking and it's 950 plus utilities.

It's in Bells Corners by Seyton/Moodie near Franco-Ouest!

I would only need 2 or 3 others to move in with me and we'd share the cost of utilities which would include but not limit, cable, internet, heat, hydro, etc.

It's a nice area, and I'm not that finicky about who I live with, if you are ok with living with someone who somkes pot and drinks then let's do it up and get this place!

Comment and let me know what you think and if you are interested!

Information Fair for Pride [Jul. 21st, 2005|10:29 pm]

Hey everyone, tho I'm not sure how many people are on this. lol. I emailed a letter to Christine today because I wasn't sure if she's planning on doing anything for the Information Fair at Ottawa Pride and I asked, if she isn't, if she thinks we should. I think it would be a good idea to set up a display, just letting people know about our group, and that its around..but also, I thought it would be a good idea to have a petition there for getting our own room..just incase administration wants to be a pain this year, we can always have it if we need it. Anyways, I told Christine that if she thinks it's a good idea I definitly wouldn't mind hanging around a display. I'm not sure what day it is on yet, but an application is available on the Pride website and they are still updating with times and places and whatnot. Anyways, i just wanted to see if anybody else thought this was a good idea or not?
